The Honorable Judge Murray Named 2026 Judicial Diversity Initiative Award Recipient for Miami-Dade County

MIAMI, Fla. (May 2026) — The Honorable Judge Murray announced today that he has been selected to receive the 2026 Judicial Diversity Initiative (JDI) Award for Miami-Dade County, recognizing an esteemed jurist serving within the Eleventh Judicial Circuit who promotes and enhances diversity in the legal profession and on the bench. The award will be presented during the Judicial Diversity Initiative’s Annual Reception on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Greenspoon Marder in Fort Lauderdale.
The event will be held at Greenspoon Marder, 200 East Broward Boulevard, First Floor, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33301. Networking begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the program from 6:20 p.m. to approximately 7:00 p.m. During the evening, JDI will honor three outstanding judges from the tri-county area and recognize recently installed judges.
“This award is given to an esteemed jurist serving within the Eleventh Judicial Circuit who promotes and enhances diversity in the legal profession and on the bench,” said Camille Smith, Chair of the Judicial Diversity Initiative.
Judge Murray, widely known as The Community Judge, has built a reputation for meeting people where they are, emphasizing dignity in the courtroom, and supporting efforts that strengthen public trust in the justice system. Through day-to-day judicial leadership and ongoing engagement with the legal and civic community, Judge Murray’s work reflects a sustained commitment to ensuring the courts remain accessible, fair, and reflective of the communities they serve.
