ATLANTA — Emory University School of Law proudly announces Youshea Berry, Esq. as the recipient of the 2025 Eléonore Raoul Trailblazer Award, recognizing alumni who have broken barriers and created meaningful pathways for others through their leadership and service.
Berry is an international attorney, strategist, and mediator whose career bridges diplomacy, national security, and entrepreneurship. A former U.S. diplomat at the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta, she advised USAID on compliance, ethics, and contracts. She has also served in senior legal roles at USAID headquarters, the White House National Security Council, and on Capitol Hill. Before her public service career, she founded a Washington, D.C. law firm focused on supporting small businesses and nonprofits.
A seasoned leader and advocate, Berry has earned national recognition for her service within the American Bar Association, National Bar Association, and Maryland State Bar Association, championing mentorship, access, and representation across the legal profession.

At Emory Law, she was a Presidential Merit Scholar, Frederick Douglass Moot Court competitor, and Black Law Students Association leader. She continues to give back as an adjunct professor, Alumni Board member, and mentor to emerging attorneys.
Reflecting on the honor, Berry shared, “I’m deeply humbled that others have seen value in my journey and the impact I’ve tried to make. Every step I’ve taken has been about opening paths for those who come after me.”
A wife, mother, and former competitive triathlete, Berry continues to live with intention and collaboration—now learning the Angklung, a traditional Indonesian instrument she describes as “a reminder that harmony only happens when everyone plays their part.”
The Eléonore Raoul Trailblazer Award celebrates alumni whose courage and contributions expand opportunity and progress. Youshea Berry’s work continues that legacy with grace and grit.
